Plan your route to Slocan from major population centers. The Village of Slocan is your last stop for fuel, groceries, and the municipal sani-dump before reaching Little Camp Slocan.
Conditions: Road surfaces vary by season and weather; expect gravel, potholes, and washboard sections.
Safety: You are sharing the road with industrial traffic. Per BC Ministry of Forests guidelines, always yield to loaded trucks and keep your headlights on.
Timing: Though the distance is short, travel times from Slocan typically range from 20 to 40 minutes. Drive to the conditions of the road, not the speed limit.
Maximum Vehicle Length: 24 feet.
Maximum Trailer Length: 20 feet.
Address: 7255 Little Slocan FSR Slocan, BC
For the easiest navigation, simply type ‘Little Camp Slocan’ into your navigation map.
From the center of town, it’s a 13km journey that takes 20–40 minutes depending on your vehicle, the driver and road conditions. You will lose cell service almost immediately, so we recommend using Google Maps. To avoid confusion, note that the Little Slocan FSR may appear on some maps as Little Slocan North Road.
There are full time residents who live along the Little Slocan FSR, so please drive with care.
STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS:
Km 0 to 2.6: Follow Gravel Pit Rd over the creeks until you hit the fork at km 2.6. Turn Right (uphill) to climb Perry’s Ridge (follow the sign to Valhalla Provincial Park).
Km 2.6 to 3.8: This is a classic resource road—steep with tight corners. At the 3.8km crest, stay Straight (or keep right, ignoring the road to the left).
Km 3.8 to 11.2: You're in the valley now. Visibility is better, but please go slow for our neighbors and their dogs, especially through the pothole stretch near km 8.4.
Km 11.2: Take a Right into the campground. You really can’t miss it!
Our access road is bumpy and potholed, but safe for any vehicle that fits our sites. 4WD/AWD isn't required, though it improves comfort and off-site exploring. Low-clearance vehicles should drive slowly and secure all gear. Reach out with any concerns.
Rules of the Road: You'll be traveling on a BC Resource Road—a classic Kootenay logging road. This is a well used, but not always well maintained, forest service road with full time residents who live on it - please drive with care and keep these safety tips in mind. Review the BC Forest Safe guide before your trip.
Go Slow: Stay right on blind corners. Exercise extreme caution between km 2.6 and 3.8 due to sharp bends and steep drop-offs.
Yield to Logging Trucks: They always have the right of way. Mentally note pull-outs as you drive; you may need to reverse to let them pass.
Watch for Wildlife: Deer, turkeys, bears, and moose share the area. If they cross, stop—do not swerve into the soft shoulders.
Our campground office, affectionately known as ‘Downtown’, is the central hub of Little Camp Slocan. Here you’ll find most guest services, including the campground store, washrooms, firewood, rentals, filtered water, wi-fi and power outlets for charging devices.
Cell Service and Wi-Fi: There is no cell service at Little Camp Slocan. If you need to connect, we provide fast satellite internet Downtown. It’s great for checking emails or a quick call, but please don't count on it reaching your specific campsite.
Little Camp Store: Our camp store is currently in the works and will offer a curated selection of basic supplies and camp essentials. Check in with us during your stay to see what’s currently in stock as we continue to grow. For now, we recommend arriving with your must-have items while we build out our inventory.
Downtown features four fully private, single-occupant washrooms. They feel just like the ones at home, but because we are off-grid, they require a little extra care.
The Septic Rule: Our toilets are standard flushing models, but they drain into a sensitive septic system. Please ONLY flush toilet paper. No wipes, napkins, or feminine hygiene products.
Greywater System: Our showers and sinks drain into a sensitive grey water system. We ask that guests use biodegradable soaps, shampoos and conditioners. If you don’t have any, don’t worry – we have some for sale at the campground store.
Solar-Powered Hot Water: We provide hot showers and sinks at no extra cost. Our hot water is solar-powered; while you don't need the sun to be shining to get a hot shower, the supply is finite. Please keep your showers short so there is enough for everyone.
Accessibility: One unit is specifically designed for guests with limited mobility, featuring ADA-compliant clearances, a barrier-free shower, and grab bars.
Our water comes directly from a creek in the Valhalla Mountains. Because it is a surface source, all WATER ON SITE IS LEGALLY NON-POTABLE. Which, technically, means we are on a Boil Water Advisory. Due to this classification, all guests are required to sign a water liability waiver prior to their stay.
Filtered Water: The Downtown water (including the marked outdoor spigot) is treated with a 1-micron absolute filter and UV disinfection. While robust, this system lacks a chlorine residual. Therefore, this water remains legally non-potable and the site-wide boil water advisory still applies.
Non-Filtered Water: All outdoor water spigots servicing the campsites are un-treated, including those at our semi-serviced sites. For filtering water at your site, we have gravity-type filtration systems available for rent at the office.
Water Testing: We test our surface water and filtered water monthly to monitor and confirm drinking water safety. However, please note that even when test results confirm the water is safe, it remains legally classified as non-potable. Camper safety is our number one priority, and should test results ever come back unsafe, we will let guests know immediately.
Risk: Consumption of any water at Little Camp Slocan is at your own risk.
Little Camp Slocan generates 100% of its electricity from the sun. Because we are off-grid, power is a finite resource.
Central Charging: Standard outlets are available at the central facility for all guests.
High-Draw Appliances: We love our off-grid solar system, but it has limits! Please check with us before plugging in things like electric kettles or travel heaters.
Conservation: In rare cases of low solar production, we may ask you to limit charging to critical devices only.
Advance booking is recommended. Full payment is due at checkout to secure your site. Only registered guests may occupy the campsite; subletting or transferring reservations is strictly prohibited without prior permission.
+ All guests must sign liability waiver in advance of arrival.
Check-in time is 2:00pm – Check-out time is 11:00 am.
+ Unauthorized late check-outs will result in a 'late fee' of 1 night's accommodation plus tax.
+ If you wish to change campsites - the change must be cleared with campground office prior to occupying the site.
Tenting Sites and Small RV, Camper & Trailer Sites: Base rates cover up to 4 guests per campsite (with a max occupancy of up to 8 guests) and parking for 2 vehicles (a trailer counts as one vehicle), unless otherwise noted on our booking page.
Furnished Tents: Base rates are based on a max occupancy of 2 guests per night and parking for 1 vehicle.
Unfurnished Tents: Rates are based on 2 guests per night and 1 vehicle. Maximum occupancy of up to 6 guests per tent.
+ Additional guests will be charged at the rate of $8/night.
+ Additional vehicles may be accommodated in our overflow parking area at an additional fee of $5/night.
Full payment is required at the time of booking. If you wish to extend your stay, and your site is available, please notify reception before 11:00 a.m. on your scheduled date of departure.
